Our latest charity 12-inch Canvas Exhibition at the EJD studio at Gravelly Barn, Braughing, is almost ready to welcome you.

Many of you have bought 12-inch blank canvases and created some amazing work using a mind-boggling variety of mediums, from paint, watercolour, charcoal, pencil, and crayon to needlework, collage, photography, sculpture, tapestry…. and many more besides.

We have sold out of the 500 blank canvases and the completed work will be put on display and offered for sale at £50 each. All the money raised will be going to charity. This year our chosen charities include: the Princess Alexandra Hospital Breast Unit at St Margaret’s Hospital, Epping, theHead and Neck Cancer Foundation and Samaritans.

The exhibition will be open on Friday July 19 to Sunday July 21 and Saturday and Sunday July 27 -28. Opening times are 10.30-17.00 (10.30-16.00 on the 28th). Teas, coffees, cakes, wine and refreshments will be available on all days and there is ample free parking.

We are planning live music from the Ware Ukulele Band on Saturday July 20. Time to be confirmed.

Please along to the exhibition, buy a canvas or just admire the talent from all over Hertfordshire, Essex, Wiltshire, Scotland and beyond!

Individual canvases will be on sale at £45 each and the artists, both established and aspiring, have used every kind of medium possible, from photography, oils, acrylic, watercolour, pencil, charcoal, collage and print to embroidery, sculpture, glass, tapestry and metal. There will be something to cater for everyone’s taste.

Coffee, tea and cakes will be available on all days and there is free parking.

Please come along and support this fantastic event

How to find us

Gravelly Barn in Gravelly Lane is just off the B1368, approximately one mile from the A10 Puckeridge roundabout. Just past The Gables on the left, turn into Gravelly Lane (first right), past Pheasant Barn and the entrance to Gravelly Barn is around the next corner on the right just before you reach the small ford.

From Bishop’s Stortford you can take the turning off the A120 by Howe Fencing down Stortford Lane (be careful as this is a windy, narrow country lane and can become flooded during very wet weather). At the bottom of the lane, turn right, through the village and fork left just after the Axe and Compasses pub. Follow road down hill, round a sharp left bend and Gravelly Barn is 20 yards on the left after crossing the ford.

For bigger events there is usually parking in the field opposite (signposted). The postcode is SG112RD

Please note that the red marker on the map is slightly out of position – but if you get this far you will find us!
